Liverpool, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Liverpool forward Mario Balotelli has received a one-match suspension from the Football Association for a post he made on social media that appeared to contain anti-Semitic and racist references. The 24-year-old shared a picture of the Nintendo character Super Mario, with a headline that read Dont be racist, and text that added: Be like Mario, hes an Italian plumber, created by Japanese people, who speaks English and looks like a Mexican. He jumps like a black man and grabs coins like a Jew. Balotelli deleted the post and has apologized for it, while he has also been fined $40,000 and ordered to attend an education course. The ban means that Balotelli will miss Liverpools match on Sunday with Arsenal, although the Italy international may not have been fit anyway since he has played just 45 minutes over the past month because of a groin injury. Since his arrival from AC Milan in August, Balotelli has managed just two goals in 15 appearances, and he has yet to open his account in the Premier League for Brendan Rodgers side. His first order of business, however, was to sign Del Rio to a two-year contract to keep him in Denver though 2015. But hes got a lot of great tools." The selection of Roby and the additions of linebackers Lamin Barrow and Corey Nelson in the later rounds followed another fruitful free agency run by Elway. Ware, the former Dallas Cowboys pass-rusher, will team with Miller to give the Broncos another 1-2 punch -- as long as both are healthy after off-season surgeries: Ware (elbow) and Miller (ACL). Ware also can serve as a stabilizing force for Miller, who ran into some off-field trouble last season after Elvis Dumervils departure in free agency. "Hes got great leadership," Del Rio said of Ware. "Hes very explosive. I mean, in our drill work, the guys got some juice to be able to harass the quarterback. So thatll be welcome." Ward can move from strong safety on first and second down to middle linebacker on third down as he did in Cleveland.
