DENVER -- Jacoby Jones, the hero of the Baltimore Ravens playoff win at Denver eight months ago, sprained his right knee in the season opener against the Broncos on Thursday night. Jones was injured in the second quarter and the Ravens said his return was doubtful. Jones was about to field a punt when teammate Brynden Trawick ran into him at the Baltimore 15. Both stayed down for a minute before heading to the sideline. Jones caught a 70-yard touchdown pass from Joe Flacco with 31 seconds left in regulation on Jan. 12 and the Ravens went on to win in double overtime. The league announced Thursday that Tom Higgins is leaving that post effective immediately. "Its our understanding Tom intends to seek a position on the competitive side of football, as a coach, general manager or administrator," CFL commissioner Mark Cohon said in a statement. "We thank him for his efforts and wish him the very best in his future endeavours." Higgins became the CFLs director of officiating April 15 2008.
