Each week, TSN.ca NFL Editors Ben Fisher and Mike Hetherington discuss three hot fantasy football topics. As a fantasy player, are you as concerned with Peyton Manning as some ‘real football’ experts are? Fisher: Yes. I don’t expect Manning’s on the quick path to mediocrity like some doom-and-gloomers, but if you drafted Manning, you did so very early on and expected him to play like a top three quarterback all season long. He simply hasn’t been that, and come playoff time, you can’t have any uncertainties. Now that doesn’t mean I’m going to bench Manning but if you’re team’s success is predicated on Manning scoring 25+ points per game, you may be having some sleepless nights. Hetherington: The Bills defence did a terrific job of limiting Manning last week, but I’m not hitting the panic button just yet. Peyton Manning is still a solid QB1, even against the Chargers improved pass defence this week. At this point in the fantasy season, Manning has taken you this far and – likely - is far and away your best quarterback option. I say stick with Manning, he struggled last week but is still one of the best signal callers in the game and will be eager to restart his touchdown streak. Do you trust Joique Bell as a feature back? Where do you rank him at his position? Fisher: It’s hard not to. Since not playing against the Bills in early October, Bell has averaged more than 13 points per week. And since fully taking over the reins from Reggie Bush he’s been even better. In as good a fantasy offence as the Lions, Bell is right on the cusp of being an RB1 for me. Hetherington: I fully trust Bell as the lead back in the Lions offence, and I’m especially encouraged by his five receptions last week. Bell has taken over the Lions backfield from Reggie Bush and is a must start against the Vikings this week for me. I rank him as a high-end RB2 in an offence that scores points. It’s hard to see him not totaling over 100 yards from scrimmage this week. Would you start Jimmy Graham this week? Fisher: If he played any other position I would seriously consider moving on from him, but the replacement pickings are slim at tight end and with Graham, you always get the promise of his immense talent and impact on a game. Graham isn’t 100%, but he has a favourable matchup against the trainwreck Bears this week. Like Manning, if you drafted Graham your team is built around him scoring you lots of points, so it’ll be an anxious playoff matchup. Hetherington: Graham is clearly not 100 per cent, but at fantasy’s weakest position he’s an absolute must-start. It also doesn’t hurt Graham’s case that he has a long week to gear up for the Bears’ swiss cheese defence on Monday night. If Graham is ever to going to save his disappointing campaign, it will be this week. His upside is worth the risk in an A+ matchup. Vapormax Flyknit Ireland . The Force had two men, including former Wallabies No. 8 Ben McCalman, in the sin-bin in the dying minutes of the match, but were able to resist a late Highlanders surge to post a four-try, bonus point win. Vapormax Off White Fake . Cornet won six straight games to rally from a 2-0 deficit and take the first set. The 25th-ranked Frenchwoman broke back twice in the second set before Bacsinszky saved a match point at 5-4.Winnipeg Jets 6 Minnesota Wild 4 – (Jets 17-18-5, 9-8-4 at home) – It was the first time in four meetings this season that the Jets beat the Wild, and the first game that the game was not decided by a single goal. Although the two goal spread in this game came compliments an empty net goal from Toby Enstrom at 19:56 of the third. It was a wild seven goal first period with some sloppy play by both teams, but not a surprise with three days of being off the ice. The first five goals of the game came in a span of 4:51 with Dany Heatley starting it at 2:13. Evander Kane with his second career shorthanded goal tied the game at 3:48, converting a Michael Frolik pass for his 11th goal of the year. 2:09 later Olli Jokinen (ninth) from Chris Thorburn and Devin Setoguchi put the Jets in front, but only for a minute as Justin Fontaine tied it and seven seconds after that Stephane Veilleux with his first of the year regained the lead for the Wild and at the same time chased Ondrej Pavelec. Al Montoya came in and the game seemed to settle down from a Jets standpoint, and goals by Blake Wheeler (13th) from Jacob Trouba and Andrew Ladd again tied the game, and 1:29 later Dustin Byfuglien snapped a 15 game goalless drought with his seventh to give the Jets a 4-3 lead after one. Eric Tangradi and Adam Pardy drew assists as the Wild outshot the Jets 13-11. Only one goal in the second, that a power play marker by Mikko Koivu, with the Jets outshooting the Wild 10-5 in the second. The Jets kept pressing and fired 17 shots at Niklas Backstrom in the third. Wheelers second of the game (14th) gave the Jets the lead. Bryan Little and Trouba assisted, Troubas fourth multiple point game of the season. It came off a scramble with the Wild feeling the whistle should have gone, although replays showed the call on the ice was correct. Wheeler has now scored nine goals in the last 12 games and shares the team goal scoring lead with Little. The Wild pressed with six attackers, but off a good save by Montoya, Enstrom cleared the puck down the icee, finding the empty net, securing the win and snapping the Jets two game losing streak.dddddddddddd Wheeler now has 14 career game winning goals. The Jets were minus defencemen Zach Bogosian (flu), Mark Stuart (lower body), and Grant Clitsome (upper). Eric ODell was a healthy scratch, with Paul Postma, Jim Slater and Matt Halischuk still out long term. Wild played without Zach Parise, Josh Harding and Clayton Stoner because of injuries. Keaton Ellerby was back in after sitting the last six and had a season high four shots on goal in 20:51 of ice time. Julian Melchiori made his NHL debut after being recalled from St. Johns and played 8:41. Enstrom led the Jets in ice time at 27:07 and was a plus four. Trouba was also a plus four and also had four shots on goal in 24:49 of ice time. Kane had eight shots on goal to lead the Jets while Mark Scheifele was the best face off man for the Jets winning 13 of 22. The six goals scored was a season high. Ryan Suter played 27:33, down from his usual 30 plus minutes a game. The Jets kept him off the score sheet snapping his seven game assist streak. Montoya is now 4-0 in his career against the Wild and is 6-2-1 on the season. On the goalie change Coach Claude Noel felt his team needed a wake up. "Team needed a jolt. You make a change for different reasons. The message was for our group. There were a lot of good things in the game. I think you could see the three day break in both teams. There were five goals in eight minutes and we made the goalie change that for me, didnt really have anything to do with Pavelec. I thought things settled down in the second. In the third we pushed the game, didnt sit on the 4-4 tie. We put pucks and people to the net." As for being short staffed on the back end, "People have to help out. Collectively play better." Jets now play in Colorado on Sunday (TSN Jets, TSN 1290), before returning home for a New Years Eve game against Buffalo (TSN National). Then its a three game road trip to Ottawa, Boston and Pittsburgh. ' ' 'd pick in 2015. Vanek, who has 21 goals and 53 points, was then a healthy scratch amid rumours hell be traded before Wednesday afternoons trade deadline. "I dont really try to think about it," Grabner said of the days turmoil. "Ive been traded before, Ive been on waivers. Its business. You cant really influence what happens...You have to just stay in the moment, day by day, and after (Wednesday) well be all done for at least a couple of months again. "Ive been through this, Ive seen people traded on game days. Of course, its weird. (Vanek) came to the rink with us and then hes told hes not playing. It changes things around. But like I said, we did a great job of focusing on not letting this stuff distract us." New York captain John Tavares is already out for the rest of the season with a knee injury he suffered playing for Canada in the Olympic Games. "It was difficult," Isles coach Jack Capuano said. "Ive been around Andrew a long time and watched him grow in this league. Hes been a great player for us, a great team guy and a great friend to a lot of guys, so its tough the first game without him. "And, obviously, Thomas has been with us since the start of the year. We all know its a business, and every guy will tell you that we wish him the best of luck, both of those guys." Ladd scored his first goal after Islanders forward Josh Bailey turned over the puck in the Jets zone under pressure from defenceman Mark Stuart.dddddddddddd Winnipeg centre Olli Jokinen then sent a pass up the ice to Ladd, who went in alone on goalie Nilsson and beat him with a low shot on the blocker side at 14:53. "I thought we came out tight, but we battled back and got a lot of chances and found a way to get it to overtime," Ladd said. "I think well take the positive of getting one point and move on." In the final three minutes, Nilsson was called for delay of game when he shot the puck over the glass, but the Jets couldnt capitalize on their fifth power play of the game. Nilsson made 36 saves and Pavelec stopped 24 shots. The Jets, now 11-3-2 under head coach Paul Maurice, who took over after Claude Noel was fired Jan. 12, didnt help or hurt themselves too much in the playoff race. Winnipeg is now one point back of the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference, which is held by the Dallas Stars, who lost 4-2 Tuesday in Columbus but have a game in hand. Winnipeg sits at 67 points, one ahead of Vancouver, which fell to Phoenix 1-0 Tuesday night. "They were a tough opponent tonight," Jets winger Blake Wheeler said. "And like I said, were proud of the fact that we were able to rally and get a point." Winnipeg opened the scoring when centre Bryan Little won a faceoff against Frans Nielsen and pushed the puck ahead to Ladd, who went to the front of the net and beat Nilsson between the pads at 10:57. The Islanders, who were dominating the first period, kept pressuring Pavelec and got a lucky bounce when Ryan Stromes shot went off the backboards and out onto McDonalds stick and he fired the puck in at 17:30 to tie the game. New York scored 1:33 into the second period on a goal that was reviewed for high sticking. Lee went in alone on Pavelec, who got a piece of his shot, but the puck went high behind him and Lee put his stick up and knocked it down and into the net for his third goal of the season. The Jets outshot the Islanders 17-7 in the middle frame to up their margin 26-20, but they lost rookie Mark Scheifele to a knee injury. The young centre took a hit from defenceman Calvin de Haan with just under nine minutes left in the period, fell to the ice and went straight to the dressing room. Maurice said Scheifele, who has 13 goals and 34 points this season, will be evaluated on Wednesday. Winnipeg hosts Los Angeles on Thursday. Notes: Tuesday marked Paul Maurices 1,100th game as a head coach. ' ' '
